CheckUp at BM Roses: "The more we know about all possibilities, the more we will all benefit".
More and more Floriday growers and buyers are requesting a CheckUp. In this three-part series, we ask users about their experiences. In this first part, we spoke to Jaime van Marrewijk, co-owner of nursery BM Roses in Maasland. We asked Jaime about his experiences with the CheckUp by way of five questions.
Can you tell us a little about your company?
“BM Roses is a family business founded by my grandfather in 1953. We have been cultivating roses since 1969. We started with cut roses and in 2006 we switched to pot roses. We grow three varieties of pot roses in seven different colours on some five hectares of land".
How do you trade?
"We do business both directly and through the auction. Although the share of direct is slightly larger than the auction, the auction is still very important to us. Many loyal buyers use the auction and it gives us a good indication of prices. We have been working with Floriday since 2018. We started with a demo when Floriday was relatively limited and now we have been using it for a number of years”.
Why did you decide to request a CheckUp?
"We work a great deal with Floriday and I had questions about how to use certain functions and also about the possibilities of, for example, graduated scales because I have smaller and larger buyers who place small and large orders."
Do you have any tips for other users?
"I found the CheckUp useful. Diede Barendse visited from Floriday. We sat down at a PC and I was able to ask all my questions. I also obtained additional information about working in Floriday and future features that Floriday is working on. I was also able to share my own requests. This will make working in Floriday even better for me.”
Do you have any tips for other users?
“Learn about all the possibilities the platform has to offer. After all, Floriday will be the future trading platform for growers and buyers. Many people may be a little apprehensive about this because they do not yet know exactly how everything works. Especially because there is so much you can do and you probably won't know all there is to know at once. If all of us - buyers and growers - discover all the possibilities and speed up that learning process, the more we will all benefit from it."
