Create simplified auction notes tested with growers
This is how we are developing Floriday together with users
At the end of April, two workshops were held in which growers contributed ideas about improvements for creating auction notes in Floriday. The aim of these improvements is to ensure that the functionalities become more user-friendly The improvements are part of the new approach to Floriday, which was launched at the beginning of April. In total, around ten different growers* took part in these workshops, so that feedback from growers will be taken into account at an early stage.
The improvements to the Auction functionalities must ensure simpler working. Ultimately, less clicks will be necessary, fewer different screens will be shown and users will have the possibility to correct. In addition to these improvements in terms of user-friendliness, we want to involve users more, and at an earlier stage, in the development of functionalities by means of ‘ideation sessions’. These are workshops in which growers and buyers are asked at an early stage, before a functionality is developed, to contribute ideas and give their feedback. In this way, functionalities reflect the wishes and needs in the market. In the image below, this is step 3 of the ‘Floriday development process’.
“Fewer clicks and working from one screen”
In the workshops about the auction notes, a first sketch of the improved screens was shown to two groups of growers Bas La-Graauw, Product Owner Floriday: “The current set-up of the auction note anticipates the future way of auctioning. In doing so, the offering and actual handling of the delivery are split up. Because Nationwide Auctioning has not yet been implemented, growers do not benefit from this at present and they have indicated that they have to complete many steps. In the improved proposal, we can reduce a considerable number of clicks by immediately creating a clock delivery via a shortcut. In this set-up, the grower only has one screen in which the origin, the auction, auction group and auction date can be selected. It will also be easier soon to make use of templates.”
Auction note correction will be possible
A frequently heard request among growers is the ability to make corrections. In the proposal for the new clock delivery, it is possible to edit product information, also after the clock delivery has already been submitted. The corrected version will be saved once again and sent to the auction.
Working in the ‘auction mode’
Leonard van Wijk, LionStar, is one of the participants in the ideation session: “The points that we had put forward were properly implemented. We are very happy about that. I made another suggestion to able to find all auction notes created in one screen instead of in two screens, which is still the case at present.” Bas explains further: “Especially when you only create clock deliveries as grower, we want to ensure that you can soon work in the ‘auction mode’ of Floriday. In that case, you will only see functions that are applicable to Auction users.”
Follow-up steps
The feedback of users is currently being processed, after which the Floriday development team will set to work on the actual development. When this has been realised, a number of users (‘early access users’) will be asked to test the functionality. We will use the resulting feedback to improve functionalities before we make those available to all users. The expectation is that this improved version of the auction note will go live at short notice. The current way of creating an auction note will continue to exist alongside this.

We are looking for users who want to help us test functions. We will select users to test functions who voted on the wishes submitted in the road map or registered for this themselves. That is possible, among other ways, via this page.
