Everything about 100% Digital explained in buyer sessions
All direct transactions on the Royal FloraHolland marketplace will become entirely digital by the end of 2020. 100% Digital marks the next step in the digital transformation of the floriculture industry. We realise that this requires a new way of doing things for buyers and growers, and that questions will arise as a result. That is why we have organised various information sessions for buyers in the past few weeks and have answered these questions. What did we discuss during these sessions? Read it in our update!
The first information sessions took place at Ter Laak in Wateringen and Bunnik Plants in Bleiswijk, two leading growers in the floriculture industry. Ringo Veerman, Commercial Director of Ter Laak, kicked off and stressed the importance of 100% Digital for Ter Laak:
"The industry is changing. Customers are starting to become more demanding and accept less mistakes. We have to digitise in order to serve our customers as well as possible. With 100% Digital, we can make the order process run smoother and pay more attention to our clients."
Ringo VeenmanWhy is 100% Digital so important?
Martin de Ruiter, 100% Digital Programme Manager at Royal FloraHolland, explained during both sessions why it is so important that all orders for direct trade are processed digitally and why this should be our common goal. Digital competition from outside of the floriculture industry is lurking and could completely change the industry. In order to maintain control, the aim of Floriday is to change the sector ourselves in a positive way.
Michel van Hout of Dutch Flower Group added to Martin de Ruiter’s story during the buyer session: “I am convinced that digitisation will serve the entire industry. We have to work with each other, not against each other, to ensure continuity in the industry. So we have to build the digital infrastructure of the industry together.”
Leon Verschoor of Royal Lemkes agreed. In addition, he shared what he believed to be one of the most important benefits: “100% Digital allows us to easily and quickly exchange data within the industry. This way, we can quickly receive the correct information from growers in our own system. There are a lot of opportunities for the future here!”
What does 100% Digital mean and what are the benefits?
100% Digital has consequences for buyers, growers and software developers. The most important consequence for buyers is that every order must be placed and processed digitally. It goes without saying that there will still be interaction with the grower, but the final order is placed digitally. One of the most important benefits of 100% Digital is receiving real-time information. This way the reciprocal exchange of information is improved, the information becomes more reliable and companies can operate in a more customer-oriented way.
