100% digital via Floriday. What does this mean for you?

All transactions at the Royal FloraHolland marketplace will only be concluded digitally by the end of 2020. This is also known as '100% digital'. By doing so, as sector we are taking the next step in the digital transformation of the floriculture industry. 100% digital was on the agenda during the Member's Sessions that have taken place the past few weeks.

What do you have to do for 100% Floriday? That was the central question at the Member's Sessions. We we will tell you all about it in this news item.

What does 100% digital mean?
With ‘100% digital', we are going to ensure that all supply will take place via Floriday and digital platforms by the end of 2020. Digitisation increases the efficiency and speed of both supply and demand. Furthermore, it helps the sector to fully comply with the tightened financial legislation in Europe.

Tightening of financial legislation
At the start of 2019, the PSD2 legislation has become effective in the Netherlands. As a consequence, the prevailing exception, which was applicable to Royal FloraHolland, was retracted. The requirements for organizations who provide payment services were tightened. In collaboration with legal specialists, it was indicated that adjustments had to be made to the creation of direct transactions. It was decided that using Floriday and placing orders through digital sales channels is the most appropriate route to comply with this legislation.

What does this mean for growers and buyers?
For growers, this means that their supply has to be available online on Floriday by the end of 2020. For buyers, it means that they will place all orders through the digital platforms FloraMondo, FloraXchange and Blueroots. Both growers and customers can do so via a link from their own software or via the digital system that Royal FloraHolland provides. In practice, this means that the Connect-EAB (which is currently used for direct sales) will eventually disappear.

Checklist for growers:
What does this mean for you as a grower? Does your business comply with the requirements that will be set for direct sales at the end of 2020? We have made up a checklist, which will give you a better insight and can help you with this process.

You can find this checklist on the Floriday platform or you can click here.
